Paper Architects Collective

Paper Architects is an experimental theatre company co-founded by Lillian White, Erin Amlicke and Marlena Ospina. Based in Lima, Peru and Brooklyn, NY, we make plays that bring together North & South American artists and that are designed to travel. Found objects and sound, handmade puppets and masks, clowning and the unfiltered voice are our favorite materials. We use the language of dreams to unsettle the quotidian and ask how we can map big cultural, political questions onto the body.

Artistic Residency in Lima, April-May 2024

Erin and Lillian are teaming up for a second residency in the capital city of Peru, where Lillian is based. We will focus on two projects: La Frontera Flotante, an evening of short, interconnected performance works created with local artists, and our adaptation of G.K. Chesterton’s The Man Who Was Thursday.

This builds on our first residency in Lima (fall of ‘22) with co-founder Marlena, when we trained with the Grupo Cultural Yuyachkani, and premiered Lillian’s solo show Mente de pollo, co-created and directed by Ricardo Delgado.
